Listening to Logic, Avoiding Writing

So I've got a novel to a small handful of agents, a short story into a prominent writing contest and a couple of new stories in the works. I've got a measly 2k words into a new novel and an outline for a short story. What to do?

Obviously play Overwatch, listen to Logic and start a blog.

I think this is the hardest thing about the fact of writing part-time around my regular job: I have no monetary incentive to write, only an artistic one. The little bit of time I carve away for it (about an hour a day) is so easily eaten up by hanging out with the wife or by doing a bit of competitive grinding on Overwatch.

Normally if I use the whole hour, I can pop out about 1500 words. Which is plenty! Even with editing, that's a short story in a couple of weeks and a novel in a few months.

It's just a point of discipline.

Normally, this would be the part where I list out the things I did to put my discipline in and overcome my self-imposed writer's block and teach you something about writing.

Well, unfortunately for both of us, I'm still figuring all of this out. You're basically just reading my diary. I'll let you know how it goes?

Anyway, I decided that my first blog post would be directly caused by how much I'm digging Logic's stuff right now. Like many an internet-er, I've listened to Homicide feat. Eminem a dozen times already, and will probably listen to it at least that many times tomorrow. Kicked up Google Music and found a playlist of some good Logic stuff and his song off of Supermarket "Can I Kick It?" came up. It samples the Tribe Called Quest song of the same name, and throws in a nice couple of lines from 2Pac's Hail Mary. In addition to the slick guitar line the song opens with, the throwback to two of my favorite names in rap got me super in the mood.

Hell, it got me going enough to maybe toss out a thousand words on my short. I'll let you know how it goes.
